Prism Church exists to Revive Believers, Reach Friends and Renew Culture for the glory of Jesus Christ.
Reaching friends with the good news of Jesus is one of three parts of Prism Church’s Mission. The basic explanation of Christianity is that human beings were separated from God and lost without hope in the world. God came to earth through His Son Jesus Christ to restore the world – which first begins by restoring a person’s fellowship with God.
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” – 2 Corinthians 5:17-21
For Christians, reaching friends with the Gospel is not optional. Jesus has given each believer a commission to be an ambassador for Him – with the primary message to be for a person to be reconciled to God. Our message on behalf of God is that by faith our friends can become new people in Christ, not having their sins counted against them. Through faith a person becomes righteous in God’s sight. Through trusting in what Jesus has done, our friends can be restored to God.
In our generation and context we believe that the most effective way to reach our culture with the good news is for individuals to reach out to their network of loved ones. Statistically speaking, most people come to faith through the influence of friends and family. Therefore, Prism Church aims to encourage and challenge “Revived Believers” to pray diligently for opportunities to REACH FRIENDS with the Good News.
Event oriented, mass outreach has been used in the past to reach people. However, even the most effective of these events only worked if individual Christians invited their non-Christian friends to attend with them. At the heart of all “REACHING” is genuine friendship with others.
