“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” – ACTS1:8
Prism takes seriously Jesus’ command to share His Gospel to the ends of the earth. To that end, part of our RENEWING CULTURE mandate is supporting church planters and missionaries around the world. While it is not uncommon for a church to have a “missions budget” that sends small amounts of money to multiple mission efforts, it is unusual for churches to pay the majority of the expenses of any one particular effort.
Our long-term missions strategy is to send church planters from Prism to places around the world, substantially supporting them from our budget. The benefit of our generous support to these efforts is multifold:
- Our support enables the missionary/church planter to do ministry in challenging places without the expense and worry of raising financial support back in the United States.
- Our support creates a unique connection to a mission that offers annual short-term mission opportunities for us where we can make a substantial impact for that mission.
- Having fewer missionaries whom we support generously opens the door for greater pastoral care and oversight for the missionary pastors and families for whom we’re responsible.
Our vision is to plant churches that plant churches that plant churches. But Prism must go first in this chain reaction to produce the end result of mission to the world. And this is our great Gospel privilege: we’ll send friends to the nations to RENEW CULTURE…and it will be BEAUTIFUL!
There is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, bestowing his riches on all who call on him. For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!” – ROMANS 10:12-15
