Reviving Believers: Rekindling the Fire

Prism Church exists to Revive Believers, Reach Friends and Renew Culture for the glory of Jesus Christ.

Prism’s mission begins with seeing the Lord bring refreshment to the souls of His children. Why? Because only enthusiastic and genuinely passionate followers of Jesus will carry out His mission to the world. Everything that the church does for Him, ultimately comes from Him.

Many Christians know the experience of once having a zeal for Jesus that burned brightly…only to have that fire doused by the difficult waters of this life so the flame is almost out. So, how does one rekindle that fire? To answer that question, a person must first know what the Lord’s disposition is toward those who have lost their passion for Jesus.

“He will not quarrel or cry aloud, nor will anyone hear his voice
in the streets; a bruised reed he will not break, and a
smoldering wick he will not quench, until he brings justice to victory;
and in his name the Gentiles will hope.” – MATTHEW 12:19-21

Matthew’s Gospel cites a prophecy from Isaiah declaring that the Messiah would not only ultimately bring justice, but deal tenderly with those who would be characterized as “bruised reeds” or “smoldering wicks.” Why is it that so many people who were raised in church believe that God is ultra-impatient and tends towards wrath when His kids stray from Him or lose the zeal which formerly characterized their faith?

Jesus dealt tenderly with broken people. The Scriptures say that if your passion for God is but an amber or a “smoldering wick,” the Lord aims not to snuff it out but to tenderly fan it back into a roaring fire. We have great hope knowing that His disposition toward strugglers is kindness that ultimately brings joy to our hearts. The starting place for re-kindling your love for the Lord is to more clearly comprehend His love for you.

“We love because He first loved us.” – 1 JOHN 4:19

Love for God is what produces worship of God, service to God and love for humanity. If we want to be revived believers, we must seek the Lord in prayer and ask Him to bring a renewed understanding of His Gospel of love to our hearts and minds. Our mission hope is that revived believers will reach out to friends and use their gifts to renew culture.
