“Let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.”

HEBREWS 10:24-25

The Inaugural Prism Men’s Conference is coming up on Saturday, March 23, and I couldn’t be more excited about it. We are going to have a ton of fun, learning, and most of all, time being together.

The conference itself marks a new chapter in our church life on two scores. First of all, we now have a women’s day-long conference in the fall and a men’s conference in the spring. Secondly, in 2019 we are putting into place a specific discipleship emphasis that will help believers endure the cultural pressure to deny certain aspects of their faith.

Ten years ago, I wrote my only book to date, “Three Tips for Campus Survival: Holding onto your faith through your college experience.” The contents of that book are the byproduct of many years working with college students. In it, I contend that there are three general reason why students walked away from Christian faith in their college years.

After a decade of pastoral ministry in Los Angeles, I have come to the conclusion that these same three reasons are why most adults end up abandoning the faith that they once claimed as their own. Hence, Prism Church will begin to emphasize the importance of these areas of faith as a preventative measure.

Starting with our Men’s Conference (and eventually winding its way through our children’s, youth, and adult ministries) will be crystal clarity about THE THREE TIPS: Three critical things you need to remember on your journey of faith.  These tips are those given to beginning hikers as they start meandering their way through the California mountains: Don’t Go Alone; Don’t Try More than You’re Capable of Doing; Don’t Leave the Path.

From a Christian standpoint, these three areas are looked at through the lens of Gospel-centered living –meaning that all we do is a result of our growing understanding of God’s grace and love toward His children. We serve God and others not because we’re trying to get God to love or save us, but because He does love and has rescued us.

Presuming we trust Scripture as our authoritative guide through life, our Men’s Conference will dive deeply into GOSPEL COMMUNITY, GOSPEL HUMILITY AND GOSPEL THEOLOGY. Our prayer is that by knowing with clarity how these things work together, we will strengthen and encourage one another in our faith.

Our inaugural Prism Men’s Conference is Saturday, March 23. The cost is $50 and includes meals, refreshments, conference materials, a gift book and other surprises and prizes. Please DO NOT let the cost keep you from attending, as we do have scholarship money for those who cannot afford the $50. So, invite friends and if they can’t pay or you can’t pay for them, just let us know and we’ll be sure they’re registered.

Registering is EASY, too. Email INFO@PRISMCHURCH.COM and give your name and the names of those coming with you. If you can afford the registration cost, we’ll collect that at the door. Otherwise, just indicate that you or yours need scholarships (half or full).

I am praying that you’ll make this conference a priority…I promise, much prayer and preparation will go into it to make it worthwhile. See you there!
