We changed the name of our church. We’ll now be known as THE CHAPEL at Pasadena!

You may want to know why.

Since 2010, our church has sought to faithfully carry out the mission of the Gospel contained in Scripture. Through the years we’ve gained clarity about the most effective means of accomplishing our mission, including this past year’s introduction of our values. These characteristics are not aspirational, but instead descriptive of which components of church life we’ve most prized.

With an updated vision, mission, and values, the CHURCH REBRANDING TEAM concluded that a new name would better communicate to our city who we are and what we’re about. A new name also allows us to address concerns that have arisen concerning our current church name. We had heard and come to understand that our original church name and logo were ambiguous. For the past few years there has been some confusion about whether or not we were a church that was committed to the Gospel of Scripture. And don't get me started on how many times poople respond to hearing our name with, "PRISON Church?"

In 2016, we purchased the historic Chapel of Roses, a venue that for eight decades had served Pasadena. As we move into our second decade of service and look to our future, the unanimous decision of our elders and our church rebranding team was to change the name of our church to THE CHAPEL at Pasadena..

We believe this name embodies a Christian community centered on the Gospel and committed to scripture, with positive associations for believers as well as unchurched people. THE CHAPEL is a warm expression of Christ’s redeeming love, a friendly place of comfort that revives believers, and a faithful community that prayerfully seeks to serve the Lord together for generations to come – both in our city and in future locations.

In light of this passage, our refreshed vision is that THE CHAPEL at Pasadena exists to reflect the grace and truth of Jesus Christ to Los Angeles and the world.
