Our History

THE CHAPEL AT PASADENA.
A CHURCH FOR THE WANDERING SOUL.

Our church started on October 10, 2010, with seven people and the name “Prism Church.” From the outset we were driven by the cultural reality that there were an increasing number of people in our area who would classify themselves as those who “used to go to church.” That number has only grown larger in the past decade. 

Our ambition has always been to be a community of Christ followers who knew and enjoyed the grace of Jesus, joyfully shared that good news with friends and family, and then collectively represented the Lord in our world. Hence, our mission from the start has been to REVIVE BELIEVERS, REACH FRIENDS and REFLECT CHRIST.

While our long-term mission efforts include planting churches around Los Angeles and the world, we have begun by serving as missionaries right here at home.

In 2014, we purchased the Chapel of Roses, a Pasadena landmark that has served for eight decades as the location for countless weddings. Given that our facility was known as the Chapel of Roses, a venue that served our community well, our leadership decided to change the name of our church to THE CHAPEL at Pasadena.

We exist to reflect the grace and truth of Jesus Christ to Los Angeles and the world. We invite you to be part of our community here at THE CHAPEL.

THE WARMTH OF A CHAPEL

The word “chapel” has positive associations for most people. THE CHAPEL at Pasadena is a warm expression of Christ’s redeeming love, a friendly place of comfort that refreshes believers. We desire to be a faithful community that prayerfully seeks to serve the Lord together for generations to come – both in our city and in future locations.

Our desire is to be a church through which the glory of Jesus shines through brilliantly and beautifully. Jesus came to offer salvation not to just one people group, but rather the gospel is the hope of the entire world. The colors of our stained-glass represent for us the wonderful tapestry of different cultures and peoples, and the unity that we all find in Christ (Matthew 24:14; Colossians 1:6, 23; Revelation 7:9).
